Friends and Vettes
Who: Joe DiChiara
Where: Torrington, CT
What: '60 C1, '04 C5 coupe
Pictured here are my buddy Tony Durso (on the left) and I with our Vettes. Tony has a '60, which he restored himself. The car turned out great, and he has won many awards with it.
Years ago, I had a '69 Stingray. When I sold it in 1977, I vowed to own another Corvette some day. Three years ago I found this '04 coupe; I'll never sell it.
King of the Road
Who: Bruce Locker
Where: Las Vegas, NV
What: '93 C4 ZR-1
It has always been my dream to own a C4 ZR-1. That dream became a reality in July 2011, when I purchased my '93. My find was definitely a “needle in the haystack,” as I located it online in Wisconsin. The listing stated that the car had always been garaged, with just over 22,000 original miles and the color scheme I wanted: Polo Green with a tan leather interior.
The car is a true survivor and completely stock. It also has all of its original documentation, including the buildsheet and the window sticker. There were only 448 ZR-1s built during the 1993 model year, of which only 22 were Polo Green. The LT5 engine is exotic and a real thrill to take through the gears.
Having joined two local Las Vegas–area Corvette clubs (the Las Vegas Corvettes Association and Vegas Valley Vettes), I have had many opportunities to show off this beautiful Vette.
My "King Of The Road" is truly special.
