'67 Chevelle SS
James has had this car since 1973. He had little respect for it back in those days because Chevelles wearing SS badges were a dime a dozen and everywhere you looked. The first few years he used it as a lackey, that's right, a work truck. He was an ironworker at that time, so the trunk held the torch and the bottles and the backseat was for tools, accessories, gloves, strikers, helmets, and the occasional six-pack. Well, that's all in the sordid past, folks. The 396 whines perpetual with a geardrive for the 292-degree duration Comp camshaft and the Comp roller rockers. The 11:1 compression ratio is formed by KB pistons. Induction mixture swirls through a Holley 750-cfm double-pump carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, and a K&N filter. Fire in the hole emanates from an MSD distributor; Hooker headers extract the residuals and a Be Cool radiator and electric fans easily quench the flaming engine. James painted his SS Black Cherry and then pulled a 180 and put leather under the hood, in the trunk, and so on. All the armrests and door panel trim are polished aluminum and the back of the buckets and center console lid and other interior parts were sent to the plater. An amp under the passenger seat runs a pair of 10-inch speakers in box behind rear seat and another amp in the trunk runs all other speakers. Brakes are Baer times four and look especially business-like through those 18-inch Intro wheels.
