'79 Z28 Camaro
Andy Tantillo
Shirley, NY
Sporting the original paint and stripes, this gem has more than 550 quarter-mile runs on the built 350 small-block and is said to have never been apart since the day it was finished. The motor's full of go-fast parts, such as a Comp Cams solid roller cam, TRW pistons, a ported and polished Victor Jr. manifold, and Canfield aluminum heads. Hooker headers and Flowmaster mufflers direct exhaust, and a Freddy Brown Turbo 350 transmission and 9-inch rearend help spin the Z to 11.51 at 116.8 mph!

Kevin yanked the original 396 and replaced it with a 0.060-overbored 454. Inside the big-block is a GM forged steel crank, Eagle H-beam rods, a Crane blower cam, and Ross Racing flat-top pistons. Dart Iron Eagle heads handle fuel and air while the MSD ignition controls the spark. Topping the whole setup off is a Weiand 6-71 blower with 9 percent overdrive. He couldn't be more proud of this car as he prepped the body and painted it out of his own garage.

After paying out 11K for the project car, having the ability to haul friends around and running 11.81 at the track, and even getting 17 mpg on the highway, Kevin can't complain much. The original 400 was bored 0.030 over to fit the Ross slugs, and a set of balanced rods and a crank were also thrown in the mix. He's also got a set of AFR 210cc heads, an Isky solid roller cam, and a single-plane manifold. Out back there's a GM 12-bolt rearend with 3.55:1 gears. Kevin estimates his setup is good for about 500 hp.

'55 Pickup
Terry McLeod
Fort St. John, BC, Canada
You can't go wrong with a '55. Its lines are timeless, and to get one right takes more than cold cash. Through it all, only the frame, cab, and grille could be salvaged. So Terry trashed the front and rear suspension in favor of a Mustang II frontend and a four-link setup out back with a 9-inch rearend. Powering the sled is a 454 crate motor backed by a Turbo 400. Rollers are 17-inch front and 18-inch rear American Hopsters.

'98 Z28
Chris Lacerda
Albuquerque, NM
Twenty-year-old Chris Lacerda's passion for his Z28, Sinister, is obvious. Working out of a local pizza shop, Chris has spun his once-stock Z28 into the 11s. The Z makes 545 rwhp and 513 lb-ft with the help of his father and Texas Speed and Performance. His ultimate goal is to shoot for low 10s on nitrous and terrorize the streets.
