I am pleased to announce that GM High-Tech Performance will be the presenting magazine of the $60,000 LSX Shootout held this October in Memphis. The event is open to any GM-bodied vehicle sporting an LS-powered or Gen III/IV engine, and the GMHTP crew will be out in force getting coverage and looking for feature-worthy rides-so even if you're not planning to race in the heads-up or bracket classes, get yours tuned and shined up, and we'll see you there.

Lsx Index Showdown RulesGeneral OverviewThis is an index-style drag racing class designed to attract most vehicles not fitting the All Motor or Drag Radial class rules
Any year of GM-bodied car or truck using an LS-style powerplant is acceptable
All races are on a .500 Pro Tree and in an index format
This will be an ALL RUN qualifying format
Vehicles are required to be stock appearing and stock bodied
Vehicles MUST pass NHRA/IHRA safety inspection for ET and speed
A Sportsman ladder will determine running order based on Sunday morning's qualifying round (closest to index without exceeding)
Vehicles must be driven to staging and to scales (can be towed after scales)Vehicles are required to run GM Performance Parts Sponsor decal and GM Performance Parts LSX Shootout license plate
Class Designations/IndexesFollowing the completion of Friday's and Saturday's Time Runs and Qualifying, each LSX Index Showdown driver will be required to select an Index and officially submit it to the LSX event coordinator before Sunday morning's qualifying session. There will be a single qualifier Sunday morning to establish the ladder used in Sunday's competition eliminations, with a breakout factor in effect.
Index Classes Are Outlined As Follows:Each LSX Index Showdown competitor will have the option to run and compete in the NMCA's MSD True Street category presented by Popular Hot Rodding on Saturday, at no additional charge. What: This is a specialty event taking place at the NMCA World Finals in 2007. It is open to any GM-bodied car with an LS-type engine. The "event within an event" will feature special drag racing classes, auto show classes, a dyno shootout, and an LSX vendor midway.
