Hidden Treasure

As children, we enjoyed stories of pirates stashing untold wealth in secret island hideaways. Ray Smith probably never thought he would experience anything like that in his lifetime, but that changed when he found this 1995 Trans Am tucked away at a Mazda dealership. Ray wasted little time in making this TA a force to be reckoned with on Staten Island. He started by adding an MSD ignition, March underdrive pulley and dual-cat headers and exhaust from SLP. Next on the list was a full complement of suspension components from Hotchkis, including springs, lower control arms, a panhard bar, strut tower brace and KYB shocks all the way around. A Firehawk ram air hood and 17x9 ROH Snyper wheels offer subtle improvements to both appearance and performance.

While the current setup has netted a best of 13.65 in the quarter-mile with a 104 mph trap speed, Ray's hoping future mods will push him into 12-second territory.
