2012 Super Chevy Show - Maple Grove Mayhem

Super Chevy Show, Maple Grove

This year's Maple Grove event was one surprise after another. The first was the weather. Usually July in Mohnton is like a steam cooker, but this year the temps were in the 70s most of the weekend. The second was the overwhelming turnout in the Camaro class, making show award picks even more difficult in one of the most popular classes in the series. The third was the turnout of over a dozen rare factory muscle cars of various types, including three '67 Z/28s.

AMSOIL Best of the Best, presented by Danchuk and Classic Muscle, was in full swing, and the number of stunning show vehicles made our editor's job of picking the five best in each category nearly impossible. Also, the Revell Make N Take drew kids and adults alike to the show tent for some model building fun.

On the strip, over 700 racers were blasting down the quarter-mile vying for drag supremacy, while our True Street contestants were showing that fast and streetable aren't mutually exclusive traits--Glenn Hunter's blown '56 ran a string of mid 8s after a 30-mile cruise.
