It seems like just last week the 2011 show season was wrapping up, and a seemingly endless peaceful winter of working in the garage was beginning. Then suddenly it's time again to free the classic Chevys from their winter prisons and get them ready for another year of SC Show shenanigans.
Starting us off for 2012 was the Palm Beach International Raceway event, the site of the first Super Chevy event ever outside of California way back when. The '12 event started off with a large crowd, but despite the lack of fried gator tail in the food area, Sunday was even stronger, with the Florida Bow Tie contingent showing up in even greater force for a spectacular day under the sun.
Of note were the Florida region of the National El Camino Owners Association, which brought out a couple of dozen sparkling Elcos, and Tri-County Camaros, based out of Miami, which helped round up 32 fifth-gens for the show.
Returning this year is the Super Chevy AMSOIL Best of the Best competition, presented by Danchuk and Classic Muscle. Just like 2011, we'll be picking five cars in five categories for readers to vote on for top honors at each event. We've tweaked things from last year, with '64-later El Caminos and Monte Carlos now officially part of the Chevelle/Malibu class. You can vote at bestofthebest.superchevy.com the Monday afternoon after each event. c

The AMSOIL Best of the Best voting begins the Monday after each Super Chevy Show and lasts through the following Sunday at midnight. Keep your browser aimed at bestofthebest.superchevy.com to vote for next batch of classic Bow Ties.
