For a dozen years, the American Chevelle Enthusiast Society (ACES) promoted a very cool event for Chevelle owners and general Chevy fans alike. It didn't take long for the event to grow in popularity, with an ever-growing field of '64-72 Chevrolet mid-size muscle. With car counts approaching 500 and activities such as drag racing and all-Chevelle cruises, it became much more than your average car show. For the 13th annual Chevell-aBration held June 4-6 this year, tons of awesome Chevelles rolled into Goodlettsville, Tennessee.
There was no shortage of fun at Chevell-aBration 2009, as Moss-Wright Park filled quickly with all sorts of cool Chevelles and El Caminos. But the fun didn't stop when the show wound down for the evening. Detroit Speed & Engineering was on hand to help out with the all-new autocross event, and displayed its new line of A-body suspension components.

Albert Galdi of Somerset, New Jersey, made the trip to Tennessee with this wicked '69 ZL-1
The DSE '65 Chevelle test car would be put through the wringer at the autocross, with the staff giving rides to anyone interested, while plenty of other contestants sawed at their steering wheels in an effort to beat Kyle Tucker's elapsed time. They would have no such luck, as Tucker's driving skill and corner-carving Chevelle proved to be an unbeatable combination.
As for the drag racing portion of the Chevell-aBration, it was postponed, due to rain. However, anyone who wanted to race on Friday night after the autocross, could make the short trek to Music City Raceway and see how quickly they could negotiate the eighth-mile track.
Once again, Chevell-aBration proved to be a must-go event for any Chevelle owner, young or old. There were games for children and adults, tons of informative seminars, and a swap meet any Chevy guy would love. The ACES and the Mid-South Chevelle Club certainly do a great job promoting this event, as it continues to get bigger and better each year.
