Around the office we frequently converse about where we are headed next. If you answer "Indianapolis," it's "What are you headed there for?" Now if you say "Indy"-well, that's a different story. You're either headed to the dragstrip or the speedway. This time it was the dragstrip.

Following a successful event in Columbus, Ohio, the weekend prior, the Super Chevy Show headed one state west, to O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis. Indy is well-known for its racing heritage. Despite the lingering threat of rain, the Super Chevy Show went off without a hitch. The pits were packed with racers from both near and far.

After the smoke cleared, it was Alex Hoddler taking the win in the Aeromotive Nitro Coupe Challenge with his '06 Corvette, edging out Bruce Stedry in his '07 GTO, with an e.t. of 4.075-seconds, against a 4.192-second run by Stedry (eighth-mile).

In the ProCharger Bracket One Brawl, Bob Locke ran a 10.088 and was victorious in his third-generation Camaro against Roger Bishop's Monza. The Jegs Bracket Two Battle had Jeremy Poust running a 10.844 in his Vega wagon to take the win over Jammin Jordan Eaker in his rear-wheel-drive Grand Am. In the NitroPlate DOT Street Fight it was a pair of third-gens in the final, with Billy Fields running a 10.979 to take the victory over Nick Finney.

The show side of the event contained a wide array of vehicles, from lifted trucks to low riders, Tri-Fives to Chevy IIs and everything in between. No matter which Super Chevy Show you attend, you'll come away seeing some of the nicest cars in the nation, and, of course, something that you have never seen before.

As an added bonus, the local O'Reilly Auto Parts hosted an after-hours car show on Saturday night, and yes, I was there. Who could turn down free burgers and dogs along with some serious iced tea? Not me. Even better, a few of the local guys put on a show shooting flames from their tailpipes-wish I'd had some marshmallows. At least it kept the bugs away.
