12.16 @ 115.66: The LS6 454 power came not only in a Chevelle, but in a Corvette for '71 only. Between rounds, Larry Weymouth carefully checked his Corvette to make sure it was tuned razor sharp. It was. Low 12-second e.t.'s made it one of the quickest Chevrolets of the weekend. Larry's amazing 60-foot times (he ran a best of 1.857) helped him shave his e.t. to a blazing 12.161 during Round 2. Larry and his brother, Mark, are big musclecar collectors and racers.

It's a bear, a former Pure Stock Drags Top Gun, and always a contender in the final rounds. If you're shooting for the top, you've gotta get by Peter. Peter raced this year's eventual Top Gun, Jimmy Johnston, in a high-octane final.

Clones are welcome at the race, but this one is a genuine Yenko. Rob's worked his e.t. down every year, and it's now just a heartbeat away from the 11s. It's so good to see the real deal in action.

11.58 @ 120.93: L88 vs. Hemicuda: Corvette dominance continued this year. Quickest e.t. of the weekend was run by Julie Pennington. Her 11.58 almost equaled last year's record-breaking 11.54. She had no trouble dispatching the fastest Mopar of the meet, a '70 Hemicuda.
