Intercity Lines drivers Anne and Tim Schaefer unload Project American Heroes in Washington D.C. Spcial thanks goes out to Anne, Tim, and Dave Wilson of Intercity Lines for transporting PAH to the event, and taking special care of the car during transit.
On Wednesday March 5, our very own Project American Heroes '57 Chevy wasone of the 700 guests who attended the $150 a plate Armed ForcesFoundation Congressional Gala fundraiser. Stationed in the foyer of theMandarin Oriental hotel in Washington, DC, the '57 was the center ofattention as the room full of political aficionados oohed and ahhed atour Majik blue beauty.
VIPs in attendance included Senators John Kerry, Joseph Biden, andJoseph Liebermann as well as Congressmen Chet Edwards, C.W. Bill Young,and Gary Ackerman, Gordon England, deputy secretary of the Defense, MaryPeters, secretary of Transportation, as well as Marine General JamesConway and Army General George William Casey Jr. who comprise half ofthe United States Joint Chiefs of Staff. The evening's activities wereemceed by Brian Kilmeade, Fox News Channel sports anchor and co-host ofFox & Friends, and the entertainment was provided by Ron White, thefamous stand-up comedian of Blue Collar Comedy Tour fame. Ron's $75,000check helped to raise the event's total donations to the $1.2 millionmark. Ron also graciously offered another check for the privilege ofbuying Project American Heroes on the spot. We will be looking for himto extend that same (and hopefully much more) generous offer at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Florida.
Project American Heroes will go on the blocks sometime on Friday, March28. Watch it live on the Speed Channel from 12 - 3pm EST.
