Canadian Larry Sinke scored his second Nitro Coupe win of the year atthe Super Chevy Show at National Trail Raceway September 15-17. Sinke,the Ontario resident who is the man behind Hammer Racing, took outdoor-car legend Tommy Howes of Laytonsville, Maryland in the Nitro Coupefinals.
Sinke scored a 6.472 at 215.17 miles per hour to sink Howes, whose '69Camaro Nitro Coupe ran a 6.549 at 217.95 miles per hour. Trim Parts LowQualifier honors for the weekend went to Randy Adler, who looks to havea lock on the 2006 Nitro Coupe Championship. Adler qualified Saturdaywith a 6.419 at 220.98 miles per hour but fell to mechanical gremlins onSunday. With only two events to go, Adler has a 70 point cushion in theMickey Thompson Nitro Coupe Challenge Championship hunt over Tony"Sandman" Williams.
A huge field of bracket racers showed up to rumble at National Trail. The street-legal DOT class showed the way on the starting line as winnerPratt Thompson of Ashville Ohio was perfect on the tree in the finalswhile runner-up Rusty Thompson of Columbus, Ohio turned in an .005light.
