Massachusetts Nitro Coupe competitor John Russo has "Draggin' Slayer" onthe front spoiler of his '68 Camaro SS, and he did just that at theSuper Chevy Show's Epping, New Hampshire event. Russo took both theTrim Parts low qualifier award and Sunday's championship, beating ChrisRusso in the finals. Chris was trying for a Nitro Coupe two-peat aftera win in Maple Grove.
In Saturday qualifying, John led the pack with a 6.274 at 227.00 mph. In Sunday's finals, he turned in a 6.384 at 221.34 to best Chris Russo,who had a 6.464 at 216.93 miles per hour.
Adding some zest and a lot of speed to the Super Chevy Show at Eppingwere the National Speed Association Snowmobiles, who turned in wildtimes on dry land. Winner Jeremy Hannen of Durand, Michigan ran his2005 Fire Cat to a 8.455 at 149.76 mph in the finals. The reaction timechamp in finals round was Bracket Two winner Bill Chapman of Woburn, MAwho snagged an .005 light. (Complete bracket race finals informationfollows).
After a week off, the Super Chevy Show heads to the South Side ofChicago and Route 66 Raceway August 11-13.
