What a season this has been! The Gulf Coast states have been clubbed like baby seals by Mother Nature's fists of fury. Relentless rains and winds have not only devastated entire communities, but entire car shows, as well. Luckily for those who attended the Super Chevy Gainesville show, Hurricane Wilma was throwing a tantrum several hours south of our location. The only foul weather that manifested itself was a couple hours of rain over the two days of the show.
Gainesville marks the end of the 2005 Super Chevy show season. Florida seems to be the alpha and omega of the Super Chevy season; all starts and ends in the confines of the Sunshine State. Roger Gustin and his band of gypsies will return to normal life for a few months and then they'll be back, as Willie Nelson says "on the road again." We'll be there jumpin' from six to six with our cameras and capturing all the action. Of course, by the time you read this, the next season will be well underway.
Recognize this car? I'm sure... Recognize this car? I'm sure you do; it was on our last cover. One of the better parts of the Super Chevy Shows is photographing the top-notch cars for features and covers. Many times there are more good-looking, high-quality cars than we have time to shoot with our camera. | Take this car for instance;... Take this car for instance; Julian Gardner from London, England, had his vicious '69 Camaro shipped to the States just so he could drag race it here. The story gets even better; he drove all the way from Wyoming to Florida, and then raced in the Super Chevy circuit. This car never sees a trailer! Indeed, he's no cream puff. | Gerald Copeland didn't care... Gerald Copeland didn't care about the rain, and opened up this fine-looking '62 Vette to put it on display. Everything about his Vette was amazing. |
Speaking of Corvettes, I literally... Speaking of Corvettes, I literally could not stop looking at this masterful piece of art. | If I owned a car like this,... If I owned a car like this, I am almost certain I would get arrested in it. | We can only wonder if owner... We can only wonder if owner Mike Haynes stomps the pedal and shows 'em who is the real king of the road. |
What would you do if we told... What would you do if we told you that this car is street-legal and driven daily except when it rains? John Creekmoore drives this 7/8-scale Pro-Mod '57 on the street...really. | To top it all off, it's got... To top it all off, it's got a 632ci engine, fuel injection, A/C, tilt steering, electric windows, and a stereo system. | John told us he used the dash... John told us he used the dash from a real '57 Chevy in the interior. The mold has been broken! |
