Super Chevy Show Denver 2006 - Mile-High Mayhem

Here's a pristine model of a stock First-Gen Camaro. Dave Crawley headed east from Grand Junction to show off his pride-and-joy, and we're glad he did.

There are always a plethora of vendors on hand showing off and selling their latest wares. One of the busiest (and most interesting) was the PROCHARGER RACING display. One of the vehicles they had was this awesome '56 supercharged, of course. Not only did the company's products only impress me, the many PROCHARGER-equipped cars at the Denver show did so, as well.

Greg Daniels muscular '68 Chevelle looks like it means business. If it goes as good as it looks, this baby could call the dragstrip home as easily as it does the car show.

One of the cool things about the way the Super Chevy Shows are setup is the separate show areas set aside for different models. Here's a portion of the Corvette area.

This '55 Chevy pickup won Mike Lurcero of Littleton, Colorado, the Outstanding Classic Truck Saturday Special Award sponsored by Super Chevy's other sister publication, Classic Trucks magazine.

The TREMEC Transmission Car of the Show for Bandimere 2005 was this incredible '55 Chevy owned by Doug and Flo Hoppe of Sioux Center, Iowa.

Speaking of sister magazines, Bart Malpass of Littleton, Colorado, won the Saturday Special Outstanding Custom Rod sponsored by Custom Rodder magazine.

Chuck and Barbara Hawkins of Hollister, California, used this '57 Chevy to win the Saturday Special Outstanding Detail Award.

Jerod Marx of Aztec, New Mexico, took the ISCA (International Show Car Association) Pick of the Show with this '55 Chevy.

This '68 Camaro is the pride and joy of Terry Gard from La Mirada, California. This car won the Saturday Special Outstanding Street Award.

This '74 Vette, proudly owned by Chris Connoly of Brighton, Colorado, took the Best Pro Street/Engineered Award.

Super Chevy Shows are known for racin' as well as showin', and there were hundreds of racecars and trucks on hand to give everyone a great weekend worth of racing. We caught Bob "Halvey" Halverson's '57 pickup standin' still, so we snapped a shot of it while we could.

At a mile-high, Bandimere Speedway is one of the neatest dragstrips I've ever had the opportunity to visit. Watching the racers perform as they did in this thin mountain air was amazing.

Wayne Torkelson marched closer to the Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels Nitro Coupe Challenge World Championship with a win at Bandimere.

There's nothing like heads-up racing to get your blood flowin'. The weekend was a non-stop drag-fest, and the fans loved every second of it.
