Palm Beach International Raceway is excited to announce the return of the Super Chevy Show the weekend of March 23-25th presented locally by Schumacher Chevrolet. The heartbeat of America will resonate throughout the crowd as Chevrolet enthusiasts and families experience the thrill of American racing at the largest Chevy car show in South Florida. Schumacher Chevrolet, renowned for its world-class customer service, is one of the top dealerships for new and pre-owned Chevrolets in the North Palm Beach area.
Last year marked a triumphant return of the 32-year-old Super Chevy Show series to Palm Beach International. Participants came from hundreds of miles away--some as far as the Washington DC and New York areas--to be a part of the action. This year, the event promises to be even bigger and more exciting, with a car show, drag racing, jet cars, an autocross and swap meet/manufacturers midway.
"Palm Beach International Raceway can be characterized by its relentless pursuit for speed," said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO of Palm Beach International Raceway. "It's our mission to put on the most action packed and exhilarating events around, and the event that does it best, is the Super Chevy Show. The 2012 show will be one to remember."
Said Jim Campisano, Super Chevy Magazine's Editor, "The quality of the cars at this event has traditionally been among the highest we see nationally. The show cars are amazing and represent the broad spectrum of Chevy products, from street rods, to '55-57s, to muscle cars, on up through the hot new fifth-gen Camaros. And the racing is superb."
Super Chevy's editorial staff will be out picking cars for the AMSOIL Best of the Best competition, presented by Danchuk and Classic Muscle. For this, the editors will judge and select the five top cars in these categories: Tri-Five, Nova, Camaro, Fullsize, and Chevelle/Malibu (including Monte Carlos and El Caminos). Pictures of these cars will be posted at bestofthebest.superchevy.com on Monday and enthusiasts from around the world can vote for their favorites.
There is something for everyone to enjoy at the season opener of the Super Chevy Show Series at Palm Beach International Raceway. Spectators can experience both Chevrolet's rich history and see the latest American cars that will be showcased in the car and truck show on Saturday and Sunday. Hundreds of classic, custom and new model Chevys will line the Palm Beach International Raceway's backstretch on the road course.
On all three nights, spectators can expect a steady clamor from the roar of racecars and jet engines as Jet Funny Cars and Pro Wheel Stander light up the night racing down the drag strip. There will never be a dull moment of activity on the strip with Nostalgia Dragsters, Pro-Mod Drag Racing, and a Fifth Generation Camaro Shootout.
If that's not enough, the facility-wide event also boasts an autocross on the road course, a vendor midway where event sponsors will display some of the latest automotive products and accessories available to owners of all Chevy-powered vehicles and a huge swap-meet and car corral on the skid pad.
The autocross allows drivers to test both their driving skill and the handling capabilities of their rides. It's open to all and there are categories for beginners, intermediate- , and advanced-level drivers.
