Since the 1950's, and at the start of drag racing on a national scale, Altereds have brought fans to their feet. Beginning in the early in 1950's, Hot Rodder's would typically find a small foreign car and place the largest engine they could find between its frame rails. These cars were know as "Altereds" for the obvious reason that major alterations were needed in order to accept the power plants they enjoyed. As time passed, Altereds began to take on a life of their own, incorporating early Ford bodies along with various other shapes and sizes. During the 1960's, Nitro methane became the fuel of choice for many drag racers around the country and the Altereds were no exception. Thus was born, Fuel Altereds.

Before Funny Cars and large corporate sponsors, there were Fuel Altereds. The cars quickly became crowd favorites because of their raw power and unpredictable handling characteristics. Match races were the order of the day for most Saturdays and Sundays at drag strips across the nation, pitting Fuel Altereds against one another to delight the fans.

In the late 1960's and early 1970's, a group of Fuel Altereds toured the nation to the delight of drag race fans across the country. For the first time in forty years, eight of these cars will be matched in competition during this summer of 2010. The cars in competition, display the same paint schemes and, with the exception of mandatory safety updates, are replicas of cars which participated in the legendary tours. These cars bring the same fan appeal and excitement as they did forty years ago and each of the cars are represented by either the original driver or crew members that participated in the Fuel Altered tours more than four decades ago. The tour includes, Nanook, Pure Heaven, Pure Hell, Bradfords Fiat, Mike Sullivans Fiat, Nasty Benjamin, Shark Attack and the Rat Trap.

We hope that you will join us for this historic tour. We can be contacted at
