Ok, you've walked and walked and it's time to get out of the sun (but not so much the humidity!) and give those "barking dogs" a rest. Head to the covered grandstands at Beech Bend where the same bleachers reside that have been there since the '60s. It's kool to sit in those old chairs under the old awning because it has so much history.
ARP is excited to bring you all of the NSRA Nationals coverage including photo galleries, videos, and event coverage here!
At some point all that walking around tells you it is time to sit back and take in the sights and sounds of the -mile racing. Beech Bend isn't like so many drag strips around the country here you are up close and personal. Some might say you can get a "bit too close" but what the heck it's exhilarating and it's old time drag racing at its best.
As with last year's event the Tri-Five Nats are filled with plenty of drag racing with everything from stockers, to modifieds, to gassers, to really fast exhibition cars. This year is no exception and while plenty of fans sit and get out of the sun the racers charge up the strip, which we might add is well prepped (plenty sticky!) and run some good times. There are lots of 11-14 second cars, there's a group of 10 second -mile burners, and then five exhibition cars running from the mid 7's up. There is one of the exhibition funny cars even made a pass in the 5's. The exhibition drag racing is brought to us by the good folks at Holley Performance Products.
Follow through the photo gallery of the action and make sure to dial up the video to really get the feel of what's going on here at the Tri-Five Nats at Beech Bend Raceway.
