We know a good car show when we see one. So, when we heard our friends over at Hot Rod magazine were putting together an event with In-N-Out Burger to celebrate each brand’s 70th anniversary at the iconic Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California, we cleared our schedule to be there. And let us tell you from firsthand experience that this SoCal show did not disappoint—thanks in no small part to a huge turnout of Chevy muscle.
The event provided non-stop action from the time the event started at 8:00 a.m. until the gates closed at 5:00 p.m. Cars filled the staging lanes at the dragstrip all day long, entertaining themselves and the crowds of onlookers who filled the track-side stadium seats. Behind the stands, the massive pit area was packed with participant cars in the show area, some 2,000-plus cars total. And who could forget the burgers! In-N-Out Burger did their part by bringing out a few trucks to feed the crowd. Well, more than a few—they showed up with at least 10 In-N-Out lunch trucks and 18-wheelers with 400-some staff ready to dish out all the burgers event-goers could consume. Other highlights included dozens of magazine cars from over the years and guest appearances from the likes of David Freiburger, Steve Dulcich, Leah Pritchett, and Ed Iskenderian.
Of course, we can’t forget the cars. With literally thousands of classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods in attendance, you know we found more than a few BowTie-wearing automobiles that got us excited. The dragstrip had its fair share of killer Chevys roasting tires and tearing down the quarter-mile, too. The show area housed plenty of Chevrolet muscle ranging from daily driven Southern California locals to some seriously nice show cars.
