Between the autocross, drifting Challenge, 3S Challenge, burnout contest, Bolt-on Power Challenge, show ’n shine, and the Dyno Challenge, the Holley LS Fest East is on it ninth year of promoting and enabling a multitude of automotive mayhem, and the hard-core drag racers pack their bags and load their rigs and head to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to take a crack at the Beech Bend Raceway quarter-mile.
The history of Beech Bend Raceway goes deep into the world drag racing where the sport’s legends once made their way down the picturesque dragstrip. Today, the track hosts multiple drag racing events including the Holley LS Fest, and it is also home to the NHRA Reunion where racers and spectators get a taste of what drag racing was like in the good old days. Vintage Gassers, Nostalgia Funny Cars, and front-engine dragsters do their part in bringing back the spirit of drag racing from yesteryear.
At the LS Fest East it’s the COPO Camaros that take center stage as these racers take their factory-built Chevrolet Performance hot rods and put on an exciting straight-line, high-performance drag show.
The Holley LS Fest East caters to a number of drag racers that participate in a number of various classes, including the aforementioned COPO Holley EFI Battle at the Green, Speed Tech Grudge Test-N-Tune, Frankenstein Engine Dynamics Late Model Heads Up, Sam Tech Street King, Scoggin Dickey Parts Center Chevrolet Performance Stock, Magnuson Drag Radial, Wiseco Real Street, Three Pedals Rumble and Cam Motion True Street, and new for this year is the new Monster Clutch Co. Stick Shift/Banger class.
Now, that’s what drag racing is all about.
