The 2018 Holley LS Fest East is now in the books and will go down as memorable to say the least. Now in its ninth year, the team at Holley knows the drill and continues to deliver a top-quality automotive event. Even the threat of rain couldn't keep the hardcore LS crazies away from Beech Bend Raceway.
The LS Fest weekend started on Friday, and by Saturday the place was packed with enthusiasts making their way through the massive manufacturers midway in between all the drag racing and autocross action. It was standing room only on both sides of the dragstrip, and the grandstands surrounding the autocross and drifting arena were full, as well. And during Saturday evening’s burnout contest, the capacity crowd was treated to a smoke-filled haze from the contestant’s annihilated tires as they performed an unrehearsed number of donuts and drifting-style figure eights. We’re thinking tire companies should love this event…
Although, the threat of rain was forecasted for the weekend, the event carried on uninterrupted until Sunday when the skies finally opened up. That downpour put a damper on the drag racing, but the Baer Brakes 3S Challenge went on with drivers manipulating the course even through a massive water hazard in the right lane. It made for some slower than normal times, but the photographers loved the dramatic photo opportunity.
