COPO Camaros made a huge statement at the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Concord, North Carolina’s zMax Dragway, and it was Arthur Kohn in his COPO Camaro scoring the win in the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown over fellow COPO Camaro driver and defending series champion David Barton.
This was Kohn’s first final round appearance and first NHRA national event victory, as he needed every bit of his 0.008 reaction time to squeeze out a holeshot win. His slower 8.087 e.t. was just enough to stay ahead of Barton’s quicker 8.036 e.t., but slower 0.070 reaction time. “I knew I had to be A-plus to beat David,” said Kohn. “Our cars both spun the tires in the final but I got out in front and managed to stay there. It was actually a great race.”
With 17 COPO Camaros competing in the Factory Stock Showdown (out of 29 entries), there were plenty for the Chevy hard-core to cheer on all weekend. And with Erica Enders taking the victory in Pro Stock driving her Chevrolet Camaro, it was just icing on the proverbial cake for Chevy drag racing fans in attendance.
Beyond the SAM Tech Factory Stock Showdown and Pro Stock, we’ve assembled a huge Chevy photo gallery from the NGK Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals from zMax Dragway in Concord, North Carolina.
