With Memphis being home of the blues and the birthplace of rock ’n’ roll, there is no better setting than Memphis International Raceway to hold the inaugural 2017 Classic Industries F-Body Nationals. The event is under way and promises to be an exciting weekend for F-body enthusiasts. The Camaro-heavy event (yes, there are Firebirds, too) features drag racing, autocross, show ’n’ shine, and plenty of new products to see and buy at the huge vendor midway.
All generations of Camaros and Firebirds are on hand at the massive Memphis facility. Fifth and Sixth-gen Camaros, though technically not F-bodies, are here in full force for the late-model muscle car crowd.
The Detroit Speed F-Body of the Year award will be presented on Sunday to the car that features the best design and build excellence.
The Classic Performance Products Autocross is open to all registered participants and is designed to prove you and your car have what it takes to cut cones with the best at the event.
Drag racing is sponsored by Jegs and features multiple classes, including DOT Street, Junior Eliminator, Super Eliminator, and Pro Mod. Grudge racing is encouraged for those who want to line up against their friends for bragging rights.
Chevy High Performance has jumped on the “award wagon” and will be giving away some hardware to the driver with the lowest combined times on the dragstrip and autocross to find out who has the best all-around F-body.
Here is a first look from day one of the F-Body Nationals where the dragstrip and autocross are getting the competitors tuned up for the weekend with plenty of “fun runs” happening all day, as the timeslips that really matter begin on Saturday and continue on through Sunday afternoon.
With over 1,200 Camaros and Firebirds pre-registered, we are well on our way to a kick-ass weekend of F-body mania from Memphis International Raceway at the F-body Nationals.
