Here we are in our favorite “let’s have some fun” city…Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the first ever offering of the Holley LS Fest West hosted here at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway just north of downtown. To kick-off the show we are bringing you the first photo gallery to show you just a “taste” of what’s going on this weekend. Stay tuned as we will bring you lots more of the first ever Holley LS Fest West.
It’s early but we can see plenty of Corvettes (and all manners of LS and LT powered hot rods) getting ready to participate. Those Corvettes competing in the autocross and other driving events are currently going through tech inspection. Come noontime there will be plenty of action in multiple venues for all years of Corvettes to participate.
This time we are here early in the calendar year to take in the action, and we do mean action, at this the first ever Holley LS Fest West. (It has started off so successfully that next year’s dates were announced: May 4-6, 2018.) The LS Fest is no stranger to hot rodders who for years have participated at the Bowling Green event held every September at the fabled Beech Bend Raceway in Holley’s hometown of Bowling Green, Kentucky. And it should be noted that Corvettes always do well. This time we are at one of the newer and premier track facilities in the country…Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The premise for the event is based on and wrapped around the General Motors LS engine architecture. This motor came onto the scene in the mid-90s first in the Corvette and then in every manner of car or truck offered by GM. The LS design replaced the venerable small-block and interestingly too the LS was replaced by the LT design and knowing this Holley invites all LS and LT powered hot rods to their LS Fest events.
Participants have come from all over the country and with them they have brought every manner and generation of Corvettes, race cars, street rods, rat rods, muscle cars, trucks, and late models. In fact the staffs of Super Chevy, Chevy High Performance, Classic Trucks, and Vette magazines have brought their own project cars and trucks to try “our” hands at drag racing, autocross, off-roading, 3S Challenge, Track X, Show-N-Shine, and lots more action. There will be class champion’s names and an overall champion for those wishing to compete in multiple disciplines.
Historically Corvettes have fared well at the LS Fest events being the ones to beat in the autocross and holding their own on the drag strip and other areas. Stay tuned for more action throughout the weekend.
