The WeSSt CoaSSt Gathering (WCG) is an annual event held in Las Vegas that showcases the 1991-’96 B-body (Impala SS and Caprice) car scene, and is put together by the SSin City SS and Cali-SS car clubs.
October 14-16, 2016, marked the 12th year of the WCG, and this event was the biggest (128 registrations) and best to date! Each year the show has grown and attracted more sponsors and participants. From bone-stock to heavily modified rides and everything in between, this unique event brings in Impala and Caprice car clubs from California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and Nevada.
What sets this event apart from other car shows is this truly is a close-knit community. Owning a 1991-’96 Impala SS or Caprice puts one in a car family like no other, as the car clubs are spread out across the country, and wherever you go you’ll find someone to connect with who is sure to help out with whatever is needed. WeSSt CoaSSt Gathering is not just an annual car show, it is an annual family gathering.
The 2016 event kicked off Friday night with a meet and greet held on the top floor of The Plaza hotel parking garage. This was the host hotel and everyone had a great time seeing and hanging out with his or her B-body brothers and sisters.
Saturday was met with beautiful weather for the cruise to the car show location held at Veterans Memorial Park in Boulder City, Nevada. For these enthusiasts, nothing beats the sight of 50-plus B-body cars lined up and cruising together down the highway. Needless to say, this group turned a lot of heads. The car show at the park featured a relaxed atmosphere with everyone kicking back and enjoying the day while checking out all the cool rides.
The awards banquet held on Sunday at Lindo Michoacan Mexican restaurant where participants were treated to a great buffet followed by the awards presentation.
This year’s car clubs included registrations from SSin City SS, Cali-SS, So-Cal INC, Nor Cal B-Bodies, New Mexico INC, San Antonio INC, Vegas INC, Arizona INC, St Louie INC, Impala Crew, NMISSO, ISSCA. With the continued growth of the event, we look forward to an even larger show in 2017.
