In their first year, the Callaway Competition’s C7 GT3-R Corvette team has had amazing race results including three overall victories. When Team Vette arrived in Germany we had a chance to closely inspect their competitive GT3 cars up close. You will not see them in the U.S., because of an agreement they have with GM. Three cars have been constructed for the 2016 season, but the third car sponsored by Whelen Engineering had previously left for the track when we arrived. We wanted to provide you with this pictorial review of the cars before we begin our two race reporting this weekend. It is going to a tough weekend, due to a change in the dreaded Balance of Performance. The organizers added 145 pounds of penalty weight and a smaller inlet restrictor to all three cars. This has impacted their corning, top speed and tire life. Just the opposite has happened to the competing Audi and Porsche competitors. Go figure! However, this amazing team has faced adversity in the past and somehow they end up surprising us all. Stay Tuned!

This view gives you a good idea at how low the GT3 body design is compared to the standard C7.
