The 2016 NSRA Street Rod Nationals from Louisville, Kentucky, was definitely one for the books. It was the first time an autocross was laid out, and some serious competitors came from far and wide to do business. Yes, there were plenty of first-timers cautiously dodging the maze of cones, but by their fourth or fifth attempt, they were laying down times better than each of their previous runs. In contrast to the rookies, autocross veterans like Kyle Tucker, Ryan Mathews, Brian Finch, and Tyler Powell were demonstrating to the full grandstands how it’s done. From Finch’s smoke-filled donut exhibition run in his second-gen Camaro to Mathews’ exciting 35.06-second lap in the DSE 1970 Corvette (low time of the weekend), these guys were putting on a show. Just to give you an idea how quick Mathews really was, the bulk of the other heavy hitters were hanging out in the 36-37-second zone. Dude can drive.
ARP is excited to bring you all of the NSRA Nationals coverage including photo galleries, videos, and event coverage here!
For those who prefer relaxing and just chillin’ out next to their rides with good friends for the weekend, the Street Rod Nats caters to that “exercise” as well.
With over 10,000 cars on display at the Kentucky Exposition Center grounds, seeing every car was a tall task, yet with some ambition and a few bottles of water, it was worth a shot. Although we didn't cover every inch of the show grounds, we were able put in a few hot laps and piece together this image gallery featuring an assortment of Chevy rides including everything from old-school tri-fives, classic Camaros, cool Corvettes, and even some later-model G-bodies.
The way we look at it, if you didn't see it at the NSRA Street Rod Nationals, maybe it just doesn’t exist.
