In the world of Corvettes “Bloomington” is synonymous with all things relating to Corvettes whether it be the latest, the earliest, the fastest, the best looking, or each and every part. This year the “Granddaddy of Corvette Shows” finds itself making its inaugural appearance at the equally fabled and iconic of raceways…the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend.
Bloomington is the longest-running all-Corvette show of its kind in the world and also presents many one-of-a-kind displays featuring Corvettes that are famous, or even iconic themselves because of what they are, or what they accomplished, or who drove them.
While there are more than 30,000 spectators expected the event is first and formerly known worldwide by both Corvette aficionados and car enthusiasts alike as the most prestigious of places…it’s hollowed ground. You come here to have your Corvette judged and, of course, the little piece of paper that you wish to take home is the Bloomington Gold certificate known worldwide.
But not everyone can start with a Bloomington Gold Corvette. For that matter not everyone can start with their dream. Many of us have to build it. So, that’s where the swap meet comes in handy. The Bloomington swap meet is loaded with everything form the smallest of must have Corvette trim or hardware right through to donor cars or projects in various stages of complete. Even if you do not need anything the swap meet is a fascinating place to spend a couple of hours just looking and learning.
