Rick Schmidt, President and COO of National Parts Depot, is no stranger to the Corvette. Though his company caters to the steel body crowd, you’ll certainly find some fiberglass among his 130-car collection. In fact, the car nut embraces many less-than-common classics like the long, sweeping lines of the 1960 Buick Special. Most likely that was the inspiration for the National Parts Depot All-GM Oktoberfest Show. This all-inclusive show brought together the General’s finest on October 3rd at the Silver Springs State Park (in Silver Springs just east of Ocala, FL). The gorgeous live oaks draped with Spanish moss provide a much different setting than you may be used to at a car show. Luckily the weather was overcast and fairly cool, but should the Florida sun start peaking out it is easy to find some shade. And there’s not hot blacktop to radiate heat either. Plus the state park’s attractions make the show fitting for the whole family. You can take a ride on one of their famous glass-bottom boats, peruse the shops, or grab a bite to eat from the many food vendors.
By 8 a.m. hundreds of GMs were piling in to park in the field by the stage, and two rows of Corvettes congregated near the row of vendors. However, a few more could be seen around the field, including two immaculate examples close to the stage. Check out this huge picture gallery to relive the memory or check out what you missed.
