After running what would have been a Drag Week record for both speed and e.t. with Day one’s 6.051-second at 251-mph run, Jeff Lutz has pulled out of Drag Week 2015. The Pro Mod Camaro, which Lutz has used to make dozens of 5-second passes in NMCA competition, had problems during a 6.05-second Drag Week 2015 Test-’n’-Tune pass on Sunday, September 13, 2015, that led to an engine teardown and inspection. After the engine was buttoned back up everything looked good up until the starter began acting up. Unfortunately, the starter continued to be an issue and fuel pump problems cropped up on Monday night, September 14, 2015, and persisted into Tuesday morning September 15, 2015. All of the issues kept Lutz from getting any sleep and he has decided to leave competition.

That means Drag Week 2013 champion Tom Bailey has moved to first place, with only the slightest of leads over Bryant Goldstone’s 1973 AMC Javelin.
