On Saturday, June 6, 2015 we kicked it off at the Alliant Energy Center with the Painless Performance Products Kickoff Cruise Nights in Madison, Wisconsin.
We’ve been watching loud dyno pulls with Sta-Bil, watching rubber fly at the autocross, drooling over speed parts with Edelbrock, Chevrolet Performance, Comp Camps, Holley, Tremec, Strange Engineering, and many more! There’s tons of cool swag out there to hunt down, or better ways to light that checkbook on fire. Oh, and there’s a few cars out here.
We lost count, but this is looking to be one of our largest events in Power Tour history. From home-built hot rods, to street rods, and some wild builds from guys like Troy Ladd, with his wild 1956 Chrysler.
But this is about the iconic tri-five Chevy. In case you’ve been lost in the woods for the better part of a century, the tri-fives are a three-year body style of Chevrolet’s sedans, two-doors, and wagons produced from 1955 to 1957. Nicknamed the “shoe box,” it’s one of the most wildly popular platforms for hot rodders. There are daily drivers, Corvette-suspension road-trip machines, clean show cars, and even an eight-door 1957 Bel Air here at the Alliant Center.
