Good Times at Super Chevy Rockingham Are Not Forgotten

Down south in the sand hills of North Carolina, people have their own way of looking at things—particularly when it comes to drag racing. Door-slammers rule the staging lanes and footbrake cars on the eighth-mile is perhaps the most popular class. There are also groups that run all-motor only and eschew automatics for manual four-speed transmissions. Other than safety requirements, there are often few rules. It’s run whatcha brung and you’d better hope you brung enough unless you’re thinking about going home early.

With that said, Chevy enthusiasts brought it all to Rockingham Dragway at the Dieffenbach Super Chevy Show presented by Chevrolet Performance. As the second to last race of the year and final East Coast event, this was an opportunity to enjoy one of the oldest continually running race series still around.

Of course, there was plenty more with stellar show cars and a swap meet that was worth more than just a passing glance. Autumn temperatures and bright sunshine mixed with the smell of bologna burgers and tire smoke only added to the ambience. It was good ole boys (and girls) and their hot rods down tobacco road for a good time that will be remembered by all.
