The 2013 Chevrolet Performance LSX Shootout at Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Indianapolis, IN is finally here. With LSX records being broken through the year, not to mention more than a few parts, expectations were high. And in the very first day there were two LSX Drag Radial entrants making 6-second runs (a first in LSX history), and new class records in both LSX Real Street and LSX All Motor. Both the NMCA's tech team and the track crew had to be on top their game to keep up with such an impressive group of cars. Check out the impressive times and results below, and stay tuned for more coverage of the LSX Shootout both online and in print.

In addition to the impressive car count in the heads-up classes, the LSX Challenge Series finale also sported substantial fields in LSX Rumble and the 5th Gen Camaro Challenge. A staggering 65 cars have been filling the staging lanes in Rumble, one of the largest fields yet, ranging from 8.50s to 13.50s. Al Broadbeck piloted the 2014 Corvette Stingray with a best qualifying time of 12.04, running on a 12.50 index (he also ran True Street). Some familiar faces include Don Dixon from the Heintz camp in the 2005 GTO running a 10.0 index with his 9.60s capable blown 402 combo, Kurt Anderson's wheel-standing 1969 Camaro (10.0), Rob Farley in the 1998 Corvette pacecar (11.50), Dewayne Massengale in the 2000 Camaro SS (13.0), his son Nicholas Masengale in the 2001 Camaro (12.0), and Brian Palcisko's 2002 Formula (13.0).

There were 12 entrants to the 5th Gen Camaro Challenge, including some very familiar faces. Tom Calabrese and Ronnie Hackelton are regulars in the series, over the last few seasons, and are formidable competitors. Calabrese's 2010 Camaro SS sports bolt-on upgrades and even a cam plus some needed chassis improvements to run consistent 12.0s, meanwhile Hackelton's SS is using a supercharged 388 combo to run a 10.0 index. LSX racing is clearly a family affair, as Bobbie Strong's 2011 Camaro SS (12.0) and Jeremy Curran's 2012 COPO (9.0) looked to challenge the veterans for top honors. But perhaps the most impressive car in the bunch is the 2010 twin turbo SS piloted by Bob Williams (owner of All Pro Cylinder Heads), out of the IPS Motorsports camp. This 427 combo holds the record among IRS fifth-gens (8.47 at 168), and ran an 8.50 index. Look out!
