Living in Southern California we are pretty spoiled when it comes to great weather, so it makes sense that there are whole websites dedicated to car show schedules solely in the SoCal area. We had the pleasure of attending one of the newest shows exclusively for Chevelles, El Caminos, Monte Carlos, and a handful of other brands, and the quality of weather and cars did not disappoint.
Original Parts Group's (OPG) Classic Car Show at the first week in April celebrated the company's 31st year of selling restoration parts for GM vehicles, and their loyal customers answered the call by packing the place with some very nice machines. With over 200 muscle cars and classics entered, you would walk around the whole place and be awed by the craftsmanship that goes into restoring and modifying old cars.
The free event had television coverage; high-performance vendors such as MSD, Edelbrock, TMI, and Chevrolet Performance, just to name a few; and even had delicious food from local restaurants for sale that made the whole experience more enjoyable. Prizes from all your favorite parts manufacturers were given away throughout the day, but the $500 gift certificate and the 350ci Chevrolet Performance crate engine is what had our attention.
OPG's Tony Genty said, "We're very pleased with the show and turnout. It was easily twice as large as last year and our most successful yet." That means you can likely attend this show next April with your ride. For more information on how to register, be sure to contact OPG directly.
