Goodmark Comes To Atlanta
And is the Center of Attention
By Tony Kelly
The long awaited debut of the Goodmark Second-Generation Camaro became a reality at the Atlanta Super Chevy Show. As we expected the crowds around the car at the Super Chevy Magazine booth were so thick we had difficulty getting any photos. Actually, there were about a million other pictures taken around the car proving that we're not the only one's nuts about it. We look forward to having it on the road in a few more weeks on the 2004 Super Chevy Road Tour. Atlanta is a spectator's paradise. Featuring one of the largest swap meets and car corrals we see all season, and a giant Manufacturer's Midway, it's a wonder the folks in Georgia can walk at all after a day at Super Chevy. Thankfully, we have the grandstands nearby and the best racing in the south to draw people to a welcome place to sit. We didn't hear any complaints about nothing to do at Atlanta. Isn't a 409 enough? Gus Meyers... Isn't a 409 enough? Gus Meyers of Chesnee, SC, doesn't think so. He installed about a ton of extra horsepower on his '61 Chevy and loves it! Gus took home an Editor's Choice Top Ten Show Car award. | Crowds of people getting their... Crowds of people getting their first "in person" look at the Goodmark Camaro. It was worth the wait. | Anybody can put a surfboard... Anybody can put a surfboard on the outside of a wagon, but only Debbie and Terry Daniels of Enka, NC, put one inside, on the ceiling. The rest of their '59 wagon is as cool as the interior so it took home the Outstanding Custom Rod award from Custom Rodder magazine. | Not all the great '57s are... Not all the great '57s are in the Show area. Mike Swinarski (left of photo) and Randy Adler, run their great looking Bel Airs at over 200 mph. These are not "numbers matching" Tri-Fives." | We caught Dave Thomasino (left... We caught Dave Thomasino (left of photo) explaining the fine points of his spark plugs to Gary Irving. We're guessing, however, that these two Nitro Coupe pilots have a couple of other things about their racecars that they don't share with each other. | Bob Hall can stand this van... Bob Hall can stand this van up like this for at least a quarter of a mile. If you don't believe it, come on out and watch; it's great! | Another car that was making... Another car that was making it's debut in Atlanta was the Best in Show '66 Chevelle of Johnny Edmundson, which he and his crew have been working on for two years around the old shop in Sweetwater, TN. |
