We journeyed to the "Live Free or Die" state where we celebrated the first Memorial Day since 9-11. There could be no more fitting location for that holiday than New Hampshire, and there could be no more enthusiastic people to be with than the New Englanders who traveled many miles to show and race their Super Chevys.
For me it meant going from the shores of the Pacific to the waters of the Atlantic. There is no more dramatic way of gauging just how massive our country is than flying from the western shore of the continent to the eastern edge of the land. There are people in this world who tried to curtail every American's ability to enjoy the country this way, but they didn't count on the American people and our will to prevail. That's what the Memorial Day celebration is all about: remembering those who demonstrated that will in service to us all.
While the flag flew high in Epping, show cars from all over the Northeast made their way into the grounds of New England Dragway. Bracket racers, jet cars, and Nitro Coupes stirred things up on the dragstrip. Wonderful people from several states greeted us and spent a great weekend admiring beautiful show cars and marveling at the performance of the racers. Only in America, the land where we're free to express ourselves--even if it comes in the form of a 600hp Rat pounding out a powerful tune!
